the "cap and resistor" mod, is usually referred to as a "swing mod". it allows you to lower the deadkey of the radio, so that it can be matched to the input of an amplifier, while allowing the full swing capability of the radio. if your radio keys at 4 watts, and swings to 16; this mod will allow you to lower the deadkey to, say, 2 watts, and still swing to 16 watts. it is useful if you need a certain deadkey to drive a particular amp. later, matt anyone wanting a "clean signal", just look to the left and build one of these!!!

The cap is a .1uF 35v piece that increases your audio, makes it louder. The resistor goes with a diode to increase the swing from lower deadkeys. And pretty much what Matt said. |

Johhn, I would try an electronics store. I have heard much controversey over this mod. Is it a good mod or is it a bad mod? Many road side cb shops advertise this mod for 20 bucks or more and I'm not so sure how effective it is at keeping audio premium sounding. KEEP IT REAL!
