While on vacation in a small beach town, I bought two old CB base stations from a junk store. A Pearce Simpson Lynx 23 and a JC Penny 6241 40 Ch SSB. The 6241 works excellent but the Lynx needs a new/spliced power cord before I try it. The price... $20 for both. What a great hobby! (dis-regarding the Wife's comments) |

Wow, now twice today I have heard the Pearce Simpson Lynx 23 name. I was at a garage sale today and bought the same radio, came with a D104 mic and all the original papers for both, plus a cheapy mobile all of it for $10. I figured even if the radio didnt work the mic was worth that. Funny how 2 people in 2 completely differant parts of the country buy the same type of radio for dirt cheap. Oh by the way, my wife pointed it out to me, I have to admit she is pretty understanding. |

My home is full of old radios (most of them from the 30's and early 40's. Mrs. 833 has a late 20's console in her sewing room. They all work. And they get used frequently. After working with high-tech super technical gear all day, it's nice to come home and turn on a 70 year old radio and listen to it as it works like new. Luckily, there are a couple of radio stations within range that play big-band music. When there's nothing good on the AM band or shortwave, I transmit old radio shows from the MP3 player over the micro AM transmitter and listen to the old shows on the old radios. Very soothing! |

Hey Paul that old radio I got from you, well my wife wont let me touch it/ Says she doesnt want it antique value spoilt by my fixing it. You know that ALMOST sounds like an insult. Guess I'll have to search for a 10 or so tubes radio to play with. Simon Tech237 KD7IEB

Return shipping would send me bankrupt but i have a TS820S that i would love to send to you Simon to see if you could get it transmitting again. Every place i contact over here won't touch valve final radios. I did get one bloke to say he would have alook at it but would cost me $75 before he even took the covers off. I'm in the wrong business. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26
